Our Services Include:

All dogs and cats need to be vaccinated against life threatening diseases. It is important to remember that some vaccinations need to be repeated regularly in order to maintain their effectiveness. Vaccinations should be given according to the schedule given by your veterinarian and should become part of your dog and cat’s annual veterinary checkup.

Unwanted litters can be an emotional and financial burden, as well as potentially adding to the already enormous problem of stray animals. Every year thousands of unwanted pets have to be destroyed by humane societies in Brisbane.

The optimal age for desexing is usually 6 months before breeding maturity. There are some cases where we will discuss delaying desexing. This is a day surgical procedure, and can be performed at the clinic Monday to Friday by appointment.

Periodontal (tooth and gum) disease is usually caused by a build-up of plaque and calculus ("tartar") on the teeth and under the gum line. This can lead to infection causing destruction of the supporting ligaments and jaw bone. Periodontal disease is the most common medical condition in dogs and cats.

Owners are often unaware of periodontal disease in their pets. Signs include:

  • Red and/or swollen edges of the gum, where it meets the tooth (this is the best time to intervene!)
  • Bad breath
  • Bleeding gums
  • Receding gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Reluctance to chew
  • Pawing at the mouth

Having a "dental prophy" done on your pet is the same as a scale and polish done by a dentist for us. However, unlike us, our pets won’t sit still or open their mouth to allow a comprehensive cleaning of their teeth. For this reason our pets need to have a general anaesthetic for a thorough dental clean and examination. We offer dental radiography to be sure that we do not miss any problems that are not visible from the outside.

Coorparoo Vet Clinic also offers soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgery, radiology, in-house and external pathology, dog grooming, cat clipping, puppy preschool, behaviour consultations and acupuncture. The clinic carries a large range of products to meet your pet's needs. This includes both medicines and dietary products.

We stock the Metagenics range as well as some veterinary specific supplements, and the Natural Path and Herbal Creatures Traditional Chinese Medicine veterinary herbal formulae.
